DB18 Yagi antenna uses trombones for 30 and 40M performance. The DB18 and DB18E are the most popular antennas on the database line, due to their performance relative to the size profile. The elements used for circuit 40 and 30 meters are 40% shorter than a full size element would be, with the sacrifice of very little in performance (-0.4dB).

The DB18 uses a coaxial switch component to select which of the three elements are driven to give equal performance in forward and backward directions. Antenna control and coaxial cable switch is integrated into the SDA100 controller (standard on DB18) for stress adjustment.

The only difference between the DB18 and DB18E are the 30 meters - the DB18 has two elements in 30m, so it is a great gain of high dipole space with the front very little backwards. The DB18-E has 3 elements in 30m,which is an optimal form of Yagi spacing with increased solids and its excellent front-to-back ratio.
